As the 2024 NFL Draft nears, our seven-round team mock draft series continues with the Seattle Seahawks.
Round 1, Pick 16: T Amarius Mims, Georgia
It’s hard to believe how the 6-foot-7, 340-pound Mims can sit down in his stance and run to cover ground. He also has elite length for the position. While his physical potential is through the roof, he lacks experience. He played only 682 snaps over the past two seasons with just eight starts, due to biding his time at a talented program and injury in 2023. He is a strong player who can maintain blocks well with good upper-body strength. Mims is more smooth than he is truly explosive as an athlete, which takes away some of his punch at contact. His feet are also a bit slow in pass protection, which can cause some clunky kick backs and oversetting.
Round 3, Pick 81: EDGE Austin Booker, Kansas
Booker comes from an athletic family, as both his father and mother played sports at the college level. He approaches offensive tackles as if he’s a ball handler trying to get to the basket. He has a slender, long frame with above 50th-percentile arms, which he uses well to keep tackles at a distance as well as perform push-pull, speed-to-power and long arm moves. His lack of weight is worrisome, though. He does not carry much weight in his lower half, which limits true explosiveness and leg drive. Despite not having much time as a starter, he has a deep pass-rush bag
Round 4, Pick 102: S Kamren Kinchens, Miami (FL)
As a true freshman, Kinchens played in all 12 games, starting the final five. He then became a full-time starter in 2022 and 2023. Kinchens is a good all-around athlete who has made plays in both the run and pass games. Most of his experience and production is from a free safety spot, including 12 interceptions. His range from a single-high role is good, but a big boon to that is his anticipation rather than rare athletic ability. In the run game, he is willing and in control, but his lower weight shows up in the form of missed tackles. He just doesn’t pack a big punch at contact.
